GET TO KNOW ME

"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination." Carl Rogers

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist qualified in the UK further to my doctoral studies at the University of Manchester in the UK. I was formerly awarded an MSc in Mental Health, Psychological Therapies by the Queen Mary University of London and previously I was awarded with a BSc (honours) Psychology. I previously worked at the Primary and Secondary Care of the NHS hospitals in the UK and also worked at a Complex & Acute Psychiatric Inpatient ward at the Priory Royal Cheadle Hospital in the UK where I provided individual and group therapy for patients. In Cyprus, I worked for the Cyprus Military/National Guard, and as a Specialist Consultant on mental health care for various institutions, where I provided group therapy for people with addictions, addictive behaviours, and vulnerable adolescents in school settings.

As an experienced therapist, I provide evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-centered and many other therapeutic interventions according to the issue of distress. I also provide group therapy and facilitate groups for self-esteem issues, anxiety management, anger management, addictions, psychosis experiences, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and others. In my practice, I use different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-centered Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy among others which may apply accordingly. I also accomplished the Group Analytic North (GAN) assemblies during my doctorate training and I experientially participated in large group analytic assemblies.

My therapeutic work is based on scientific but also subjective precepts that incorporate humanistic values, respect for uniqueness and choice, and appreciate the narrative interpretation of experiences in a non-judgemental space. I am fully conversant with the latest mental health research literature and combine exceptional professional capability with an effective client-centered approach with evidence-based psychological therapies under the ethical guidelines of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), both in the UK. I am also a member of the Cyprus Council of Psychologists.

Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional Psychologist can make things better. I care about your well-being and provide you all the tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.
